The fate of pension reform remained in limbo Friday morning after Gov. Pat Quinn and the four legislative failed to reach an agreement on pension reform measure.

Republicans left the 90 minute meeting saying they have no idea what the Democrats are planning as the General Assembly prepared for an afternoon special session to deal with pension reform.

“The only thing that’s clear is the Democrats do not want to do comprehensive reform,” said Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno, R-Lemont. “They would not tell us what would be called, but it will certainly not be all of the systems or even four.”

“They said they’re not interested in doing (downstate teachers),” said House Minority Leader Tom Cross, R-Oswego. “It continues to be anything but comprehensive and substantive as we’ve talked about.” More…
