Charlotte, N.C. — Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar has some advice on how to heal the state’s woefully underfunded employee pension plans, and you might be surprised what he has to say.

At last week’s GOP convention in Tampa, Fla., Mr. Edgar took some shots at just about everyone in Springfield — including, directly or by implication, the state’s business leaders. I wanted to run what he said by a couple of people here at the Democratic convention before writing about it.
